Darlene Horton
Gourds with Mixed Media
Based in Gold Canyon, Arizona

Nestled in the serene landscapes of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Darlene Horton finds inspiration in the rugged beauty of her adopted desert home at the foot of the majestic Superstition Mountain range.
Darlene captures the essence of the Sonoran Desert in gourd form through carving, freehand painting, wood burning, and the incorporation of found objects from her desert surroundings. Every gourd is a narrative of the Southwestern desert, and a portal to the peace and serenity that she finds there.
With artistic roots in painting and weaving, Darlene transforms rough, organic, gourd forms into tributes that reflect her love for the raw elemental beauty of Arizona.

Darlene has been married to Eldon for over 50 years and resides in Gold Canyon, Arizona with her dog Sugar. She has two grown children, Janet living in Chicago, and Kevin who calls Indianapolis home.
